testing making Fire Starters

So now that I live in the land of fire places I decided it was time to start working on making Fire Starters. These are a great way to use up extra wax I have around.
So mission one was to head up to the mountains to collect things to put into making these such as pine cones, dry leaves, pine needles and such. I borrowed my niece and two nephews to help me collect everything I could and they had fun putting all the stuff in their buckets.

Well round 1 was just a fast test to see how these things worked so I didn't want to waste very much of the mountain stuff we collected but you get the point. Still have to do a fire place test to see how they work then I will try to make a pretty one next. So check back :)

Interesting...I've always seen these but never knew exactly how they worked or were made. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

What a great idea for using the extra wax! Does it all burn off? I don't know that dh trusts putting wax into his woodstove (fireplace, yes; woodstove no...but we don't have a fireplace).

we have a wood burning stove here so I am going to try it out. I see a number of people who sell these things so they must work. I did toss a used wax melt/tart into the fireplace and I saw it all go away.

All the fun of testing an idea I guess :)

What a great way to utilize all the goodies that the woods gives us! We used to do something along this line in Girl Scouts for campfires. Always worked, even with damp fuel!

Yes, it is fun to test out new products (as long as nothing blows up...I think of Anne-Marie's microwave fire...LOL!).

Keep me posted on how it works in your wood stove!

I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are not right. Write to me in PM.
