Blue Sugar

Sorry for the delay in getting a picture of the green apple soap up for you all to see. I can’t seem to get a picture of it that I am happy with. The soap is white with light green swirls and I just can’t get the swirls to show up in the picture just yet. I am going to have to break out the photo lights I think to get a decent picture.

This weekend was a busy one; I made a batch of oatmeal milk & honey soap. I had some time in between candle orders so I played around making some candles. I dug out my pyramid mold and made 2 pretty cool looking ones. The first one is scented Blue Sugar, this is a scent I am testing.

Blue Sugar is a blend of caramelized sugar and vanilla topped with heady notes of cedar and Tonka bean. The soul of the fragrance combines rich notes of licorice, patchouli, lavender, heliotrope, and coriander, freshened with crisp bergamot and mandarin, then finished with soothing notes of star anise and ginger.

The Blue sugar is one at first smell I didn’t like too much, but it is one that I ended up setting next to my computer and every time I turned around I was sniffing it. It has really grown on me I think it is cause it is one of the more complex scents so every time you smell it you get a different scent.

I also made candles in the following scents: spiced cranberry, patchouli, lemon bundt cake, cupcakes, apricot, pumpkin pie, and 1-mystery layers candle. See the above picture!

Still cranking out the website changes, should have the new shopping cart system including the air fresheners up soon!

dirt soap?!?!?!

On Sunday night I made a batch of green apple soap. I decided the green apple would be a nice apple yet not your standard apple scent. This one smells pretty good so far, I get to cut it tonight and I will work on posting a picture.

I got the pumpkin cheesecake scent in and this really is one of the best pumpkin scents. A few of my normal testers were defiantly digging it and I am expecting a number of them to order candles for the holidays with it. The other scent also came in that was going to be like cupcakes. I have to say I am unsure on this one. Some scents don’t always smell that great in the bottle but when they get put into something they really shine. I am hoping that is the case with this one, if not the search for the best cupcake scent will go on! Now I just need to get in there and get a candle made with it so I will know for sure how it smells.

Still on the search for more scents that would really rock in soap. I am tossing around a few ideas at the moment. I am planning to maybe do a chocolate scent, but I am thinking about mixing some other scent in as well. Now to decide what to put with it, I was leaning towards coconut. But considering how much I love coconut I might be biased towards that one. I decided to ask others what they thought some mentioned doing Strawberry, Cherry and I am even looking into a raspberry to mix in.

Anyone have any thoughts on scents you would put with chocolate?

One more on my future to do list is one I want to call Vanilla Doom, the plan is to use a nice vanilla scent and I would put in sand I got from the point dume beach(famous Malibu beach where lots of movies are filmed at). The sand would be a nice exfoliation feature in it. I am also testing a few “ocean” type scents that I may end up liking more then the vanilla, time will tell.

The last one on the experimental list would be one made with a dirt scent. I know you are going DIRT?!?!?!? But come on think back to how much fun it was to play in the dirt when you were a kid. This scent is also a great guys scent, nothing more manly then smelling like the good old outdoors right? Hunters are also said to like this scent as it can help mask the human scent some. I mentioned this scent to my dad and he said nothing does beat the smell of fresh turned dirt. heck maybe I can put the beach sand in that one instead?

So am I nuts for wanting dirt soap?

This weeks goals are to get the website updated with a new shopping cart, add the air freshener’s, and the love spell, wildberry zinger tea, peppercorn soap. The computer being down for 2 weeks really put me behind. But I am working on getting my to do list caught back up.
